5/9/2023 0 Comments Moo! by David LaRochelle![]() I wrote a story I would read to my fourth-graders, and a teacher I worked with named Kathy Haubrich said I should send it out. ![]() So I taught fourth grade in Coon Rapids for four years. So after graduation, I went down for an interview and they told me no, I didn't draw well enough. When I got into high school I entered this statewide competition, and a drawing of my dad earned me a scholarship to the Savannah, Georgia, College of Art and Design.ĭuring the first week of college they brought in these different illustrators and the first one they brought in was David Shannon, who illustrates children's books, and I thought, "You can do that?" I didn't know you could do that for a living.ĭavid: I knew what I wanted to do when I got out of college - I wanted to work for Hallmark cards. The interview has been edited for clarity and length.
